Mandara Hut is the first overnight stop on the Marangu Route: a cluster of wooden A-frame huts in a clearing at the upper edge of the rainforest.
Colobus and blue monkeys are often seen around camp, and a short walk leads to Maundi Crater for views over the plains towards Kenya. Climbers sleep in shared huts with bunk beds, and meals are served in the communal dining hall.
