Barranco Camp sits in the Great Barranco Valley beneath the towering Western Breach and the famous Barranco Wall, among groves of giant groundsels.

It is one of the most scenic campsites on Kilimanjaro, where the Machame, Lemosho and Umbwe routes meet. Arriving here after the climb to the Lava Tower is a key "climb high, sleep low" acclimatisation step.
